When Do I Need a Crown?

If you have a broken or cracked tooth, a crown is a great option for repairing the tooth and maintaining your smile. With advancements in dental technology, our dentists are able to comfortably and precisely place custom dental crowns in one day, and ensure that the crown looks and feels like a real tooth.

Customized crowns are a great option for making a tooth stronger and improving its appearance. It can cover and support a tooth with a large filling when there isn’t enough tooth left, and can even be used to attach a bridge, protect a weak tooth from breaking, or restore one that’s already broken.

Dental crowns are also used to cover teeth that are discolored or badly shaped or to cover a dental implant.

Our facility was designed with your healing in mind

Bi•o•phil•i•a

noun a scientific movement linking human health and responsiveness to natural environments

Life loves life. It may seem like common sense to some, but it’s actually real science. Recent studies in biophilia have shown that people actually heal faster and perform better when surrounded by nature and natural light, which is why we designed every inch of this facility based on this principle.

Each operatory has floor-to-ceiling windows and live plants, which allow for a calming and healing environment for the patient. Doctors and team members also benefit as natural lighting lowers the occurrence of human errors.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to get a crown?

Traditionally, getting a crown was a long procedure spanning several weeks. However, here at Spodak Dental Group, we house a top-of-the-line CEREC machine, allowing our dentists to mill a crown in just one hour. You avoid wearing temporary crowns and multiple visits to our office, saving you time and money!

Do my custom dental crowns require special care?

Like any tooth, your crown requires good dental hygiene, including brushing twice a day, flossing regularly, and visiting your dentist twice a year. While your crown won’t decay in the same way a tooth can, decay can form along the edge of the crown and your tooth.

What’s the difference between crowns and veneers?

A crown covers your tooth like a cap while veneers are a thin shell that’s applied to the front of your tooth. A crown may be necessary if your tooth is at risk of breaking, has undergone a root canal, or doesn’t match the rest of your teeth.

How long will a ceramic crown last?

With proper care and regular routine maintenance at our office, ceramic crowns may last up to 10 years.
