Your smile is the gateway to your inner confidence and your passport to a positive and powerful connection with your environment. Sadly, though, eighty percent of us suffer from some level of malocclusion or crowding that not only leaves us embarrassed to bear our teeth, but often results in decay, bone loss, and ultimately tooth loss.
At the Spodak Dental Group we understand and appreciate the empowering properties and healthful benefits of beautiful, straight teeth. Having prestigiously been honored with Top 1% Provider status by Invisalign ® and Align Technologies ®, Dr.Craig Spodak is uniquely qualified to help you attain the beautiful, healthy smile of your dreams. In fact, our practice is one of five practices in the world to hold this top-level accreditation, meaning we have successfully perfected hundreds of smiles.
We take the time to review all recommended treatment fees, and will help in any way we can so all patients are able to receive the necessary treatment they deserve.
Our facility was designed with your healing in mind
noun a scientific movement linking human health and responsiveness to natural environments
Life loves life. It may seem like common sense to some, but it’s actually real science. Recent studies in biophilia have shown that people actually heal faster and perform better when surrounded by nature and natural light, which is why we designed every inch of this facility based on this principle.
Each operatory has floor-to-ceiling windows and live plants, which allow for a calming and healing environment for the patient. Doctors and team members also benefit as natural lighting lowers the occurrence of human errors.
So at your first visit with our office, you’re going to get an Invisalign scan. That’s actually done with the Invisalign Itero scanner. It’s a really cool device that basically substitutes having to have those goopy impressions that we all hate having. So it’s just a low light invisible scan. It’s basically digital photography of your teeth. During that scan, which takes about three to five minutes, we’re going to capture all the information of your teeth, and then we’re going to run an outcome simulator. With that outcome simulator, you’re going to get a preview of what your teeth are going to look like, which is really cool. The whole process takes about 10 to 17 minutes, depending on how fast we can scan and how many breaks you need through the process.
So at your second visit, you’ve already had the Invisalign scan done and you’ve already seen your outcome simulator. What happens at that point is that the information is electronically sent to Invisalign. There are literally thousands of Invisalign providers but I want you to understand that it’s not just a specific service you’re receiving from Invisalign. The dentist, the guy like me, actually designs the case. So we’re actually Top 1 Percent in the world, and I believe one of the top 10 offices worldwide. So you’re getting a lot of experience to design that case specifically to the result that we want to achieve. You don’t want to go to just any provider because you can literally take a course and start your first Invisalign case, and you don’t want to be the person receiving that practice.
The second visit is where we actually get started with Invisalign. At that point, we deliver your aligners and show you how to use them. We might even place little buttons on your teeth called attachments, and you’re off to the races. The first week you wear your aligners is not so fun. It’s a little mildly annoying because you’re not used to it, there’s a little bit of an adjustment period, so we like to think of the first three to five days are a little bit of an adjustment period. But after that, no one really has a problem. And then we’ll see you periodically throughout treatment to make sure that you’re completed and that it’s done well.
So when you’re considering Invisalign, you have a myriad of choices. You have different doctors with different experience, different types of dentists – orthodontists and general dentists. Invisalign makes it very easy for the consumer. On their website, Invisalign.com, they sort their providers according to their experience level. There are guys who have just taken the course and are Certified, so they literally took a weekend course; there are guys who maybe do it once or twice a week, the Preferred; Premier doing it every week; Elite who do quite a bit of Invisalign; and guys like us, at the Spodak Dental Group, who are Top 1 Percent providers. There are only a handful of dentists in the country who have earned that level of provider.
What that means to you is that we’ve got experience. We have the technology, as you can see here with the Itero scanner, so there are no goopy impressions. We also do this every single day. Invisalign is not a generic service. You have to go with a provider who’s doing it, and doing a lot of it. You don’t want to have a bad experience and Invisalign is working very hard to actually select the dentist who has the most experience. So if you’re in our zip code or in the Delray Beach of Boca Raton area, they will kind of audit, or push you, to go to our office.
Invisalign actually needs to be cleaned much in the way that teeth need to be cleaned. So every time you take them out, you should ideally at least rinse them under some water. But when you brush your teeth, the two times a day that you do (morning and night), you should also brush your Invisalign retainers just to make sure that there’s nothing getting stuck or plaque build-up in them. Periodically if you find they’re getting stained, we can give you some anti-staining or some cleansing tablets to put the aligners in for 10 to 15 minutes and that brightens them right up. But, yes, you must clean them on a daily basis.
So the average Invisalign case is about 10 months. What that means is that you’ll see results slowly over that period of time. Some people can swear they’re starting to see results after the first or second aligner. But if you think about it, each aligner only moves the teeth 0.2 millimeters and each aligner is worn for two weeks. So my usual answer is that it takes a couple months to actually see something. But, like I said, I have some patients who swear that they see results in as soon as four to six weeks.
So this is a very important question and I’m really happy that you’re posing it. Invisalign, right now, there are patents on it. So the computerized control of teeth movement, the only game in town is Invisalign. A lot of patients go and are spending quite a bit less money, or they think they’re getting a bargain. They’re getting what they think is Invisalign, but it’s really not real Invisalign. The doctors are selling it as “just as good” but there’s nothing quite like Invisalign at this particular moment. Eventually, the patents will run out and there will be other competition that may be suitable, from 3M and other big medical companies. But at this particular moment, the only way to completely computer control it and get the outcomes that you really want, is with actual Invisalign. That’s why Invisalign goes through such lengths to make sure the cases and the aligners and the branding is there so you know you’re actually getting real Invisalign.
This place is awesome. As others have said, the dentist is not a favorite place to go. The staff is excellent, courteous and takes as much time with you as needed to ensure you walk away understanding whatever the discussion was about. If you need a place to go, this place is it, you won’t regret it.
