Veterans with Sleep Apnea: Get the Care You Deserve Through the VA Community Care Program

At Spodak Dental Group, we’re honored to care for those who’ve served our country. Many Veterans experience sleep apnea, a serious but treatable condition that affects sleep quality and overall health. If you’re a Veteran with benefits through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), you may be eligible to receive sleep apnea treatment in Delray Beach through the VA Community Care Program, right here at our office.

What Is Sleep Apnea?

Sleep apnea is a disorder where breathing repeatedly stops and starts during sleep. The most common type, obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), occurs when the muscles in the throat relax and block the airway. Common symptoms include:

  • Loud, chronic snoring
  • Gasping or choking during sleep
  • Daytime fatigue or difficulty concentrating
  • Morning headaches or dry mouth

Untreated sleep apnea can increase the risk of high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, depression, and other serious health issues.

Why Veterans Are More at Risk

Research shows that Veterans are more likely to develop sleep apnea than the general population. Factors such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), weight changes, age, and exposure to dust or smoke during service can contribute to airway problems during sleep. Addressing sleep apnea is crucial – not just for better rest, but for long-term physical and mental well-being.

How Spodak Dental Group Helps Veterans Sleep Better

As a leading Delray Beach dentist with advanced training in sleep apnea diagnosis and treatment, the team at Spodak Dental Group offers effective solutions for Veterans struggling with sleep-disordered breathing.

We specialize in oral appliance therapy, a comfortable, non-invasive alternative to CPAP machines. Custom-fitted oral appliances gently reposition the jaw and tongue to keep your airway open throughout the night, reducing snoring and improving airflow.

Our dental sleep specialists use state-of-the-art technology to evaluate your airway, coordinate with your physician, and create a personalized treatment plan that fits your lifestyle and comfort needs.

VA Community Care Program: Accessing Your Benefits

The VA Community Care Program allows eligible Veterans to receive care from community providers when the VA cannot provide certain services locally or promptly. If you are a Veteran experiencing symptoms of sleep apnea, speak with your VA provider about obtaining a referral to Spodak Dental Group.

Once the VA approves your referral, you can schedule your appointment with us—and your care will be covered under your existing VA benefits.

For more details on eligibility and how the program works, visit the official VA Community Care website.

Take the First Step Toward Better Sleep and Health

You’ve served your country—now let us serve you. If you’re a Veteran seeking sleep apnea treatment near Delray Beach, contact your VA provider today to request a referral to Spodak Dental Group. Our team is proud to partner with the VA to help you breathe easier, sleep better, and live healthier.
