All About Family: Spodak Duo Redefines Dentistry with Love and Care
Life couldn’t be sweeter for Dr. Myles Spodak and Dr. Craig Spodak. This father and son team is operating a world-renowned dental practice, revolutionizing the face of dentistry, and offering the community state-of-the-art comprehensive dental care. What is the secret to their success? It’s all about Family values.
Dr. Myles followed in the footsteps of his father, Dr. Harry Spodak, who began practicing dentistry in 1938. After graduating from dental school in 1966, in the middle of the Vietnam War, Dr. Myles spent two years as an Army Captain performing dentistry before returning to work with his father in 1968.
Dr. Myles wanted to grow his own practice independently of his father so he founded Spodak Dental Group in 1969 in New City, NY. However, he still yearned for something new, so he and his wife Arlene decided to move the family, including daughter Sharon, 8, and son Craig, 4, to Delray Beach in 1975.
Throughout the move, Dr. Myles strived to keep the family together. Arlene worked as the front desk receptionist from 1976 to 2006, but he could hardly wait for one more person to join him: his son. This deep-rooted family involvement showcases that for the Spodaks, their practice and their personal lives are all about family.
It’s All About Family at Spodak Dental
Dr. Craig was inspired to pursue a dental career when Dr. Myles renovated the office in 1991, adding all state-of-the-art equipment. This opened Dr. Craig’s eyes as to how he could grow the company and he joined his father at Spodak Dental Group in 1998, the same year he graduated from Tufts University.
“I was so anxious for him to finish his schooling so he could join the practice,” Dr. Myles said. “I wanted to work with him and we are closer now than we have ever been. It’s all about family, working together to achieve our dreams.”
Dr. Myles had a paternal instinct to give his son the company reigns because he wanted him to realize his full potential and to have complete freedom to create a comprehensive dental practice. “He had dreams of something more than what we had at that time so I turned the practice over to him in 2006,” Dr. Myles said. “He was in a position of high growth and I didn’t want to hold him back. Spodak Dental Group, as you see it now, is the fulfillment of his dental career.”
Dr. Craig wanted to bring this innovative idea to Delray Beach as he has a very special attachment to the city where he grew up. “I am emotionally, physically and economically invested in the community,” Dr. Craig said. “This is my home, where my parents live, and where I want to continue to raise my family and build the practice.”
“I see a great future for Dr. Craig and the practice. I know he’s on the right track,” Dr. Myles said. “He has a lot of foresight and vision and what he has now is the wave of the future. You can see a lot of other companies are now following a similar business model, but he was on the cutting edge of the future of dentistry.”
“My dad is my best friend and I love that I get to spend quality time with him every day,” Dr. Craig said. “He has not only taught me everything I know about dentistry, but he also gives me personal and professional advice. I wouldn’t be where I am today without him.”
The family tradition has been evolving for almost 100 years, and the Spodak team is pursuing the future with open arms. Dr. Craig and his wife Zaicha have two children, Sage, 4, and Gavin, almost 2, and they may be the next faces of Spodak Dental Group.

“As long as I am physically able, I want to practice dentistry with my son,” Dr. Myles said. “The future of dentistry is excellent and I am very hopeful for Sage and Gavin to follow in the family tradition. For us, it’s all about family, and extending this legacy through them would be a dream come true.”
“Sage tells me she wants to work in the room between her grandpa and me,” Dr. Craig said. “I believe dentistry is a great profession and I would be pleased if both of my kids found happiness in it. Passion is contagious and they see how driven I am. It’s all about family, and bringing them into this environment is incredibly fulfilling.”
