Perio Protect

Perio Protect is a comprehensive approach to gum disease treatment and is used by hygienists to help keep periodontal disease under control for long periods of time after initial therapy.

Brittany explains Perio Protect Trays

Perio Protect helps control the cyclical and, to some extent, unpredictable nature of periodontitis. It helps to decrease the risk for further gum tissue damage over a period of years. In fact, the Perio Protect Tray was created to help patients fight periodontal diseases in the most minimally invasive way possible and with the least amount of disruption to their quality of life.

The special internal seals in the Perio Protect tray make it possible to place medication directly into the pockets between teeth and gum tissue. Your dentist or hygienist will measure your mouth and our lab will create a customized internal seal for each Perio Tray.

The specially-designed Perio Protect tray works because the pressure created by the seal forces the medication into pockets under the gum line, reaching deeper than any other non-invasive gum disease treatment is able to.

Used daily, Perio Protect fights bacterial infections and allows your gums to heal.

Perio Protect – A Minimally-Invasive Gum Disease Treatment That Works

what is perio protect

Perio Protect is a great option for patients who suffer from periodontal issues as a way to treat the disease without resorting to more invasive treatment options.

Perio Protect is a more comfortable, effective, and less invasive option that delivers medication deep below the gums.

It is even very easy to use for at-home care. Patients are able to simply add medication and wear the tray — no special training or know-how required.

Gum Disease Treatment Options

Chronic gum disease, aggressive periodontitis, chronic periodontitis and necrotizing periodontal disease are the most common forms of gum disease. A dentist or periodontist may recommend certain procedures after your diagnosis and will put together a treatment plan.

Most hygienists will begin treatment with scaling and root planing, or nonsurgical periodontal therapy. Adjunct therapy, such as antimicrobial medicines, may follow.

This is where Perio Protect comes in. The goal is to treat your gum disease at home with custom-made trays and medicine. Gum disease will be kept at bay, with only careful monitoring and hygiene cleanings needed after that point.

When gum disease is not controlled, LANAP therapy might be needed.

noun a scientific movement linking human health and responsiveness to natural environments

Life loves life. It may seem like common sense to some, but it’s actually real science. Recent studies in biophilia have shown that people actually heal faster and perform better when surrounded by nature and natural light, which is why we designed every inch of this facility based on this principle.

Each operatory has floor-to-ceiling windows and live plants, which allow for a calming and healing environment for the patient. Doctors and team members also benefit as natural lighting lowers the occurrence of human errors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can’t I just use my retainers or aligners instead of these trays?

No. Perio Protect works by sealing close to the gums to prevent medication from seeping into the mouth. The pressure created by the seal forces the medication into pockets under the gum line, reaching deeper than any other non-invasive gum disease treatment can.

How long do I have to wear the trays?

Duration and frequency will be determined based on your doctor’s recommendations, but most patients begin treatment with 2-3 Perio Tray applications per day, each 10-15 minutes.

Can I use these trays to whiten my teeth?

No. It is not recommended that you use any gel, oil, paste, or substance in the trays that was not explicitly prescribed or recommended by your doctor or hygienist as this may ruin the seal.

Will my insurance cover the cost of these trays?

As each insurance is different, we won’t know your benefits until we verify your insurance. However, our insurance specialist will always work to maximize your insurance allowance and will provide all necessary information to you should you have to work with your insurance plan directly.

The trays should last anywhere from 5-10 years, so it’s a worthy investment in your smile.
