Reopening Safely: Spodak Dental’s COVID 19 Response Plan

It’s been a trying time for everyone during the Coronavirus pandemic, but the Spodak Dental Group team is ready to reopen and serve our patients. After weeks of being a part of the solution and not the problem, we will begin seeing patients for routine dental care on Monday, May 11.

While we are excited to reopen and connect with our family of patients, we are taking great steps to not only provide the highest level of care possible but to also ensure a safe environment for our patients and team. We are instating a Phase One reopening, meaning that we’ve created a new schedule and set of procedures to achieve our main goal of keeping our patients and our team safe.

After much careful consideration, we’ve implemented the following three main health-focused additions to our standard of care, which we’ll have in place beginning immediately and will keep in place as long as needed.

Rotating Teams

In an effort to offer continuous service to our patients during the COVID 19 pandemic, we have split our team into two schedules. Our office will now be open from Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. One team will serve patients from Monday through Wednesday, and the second team will serve patients from Thursday through Saturday.

The goal of this split schedule is to allow our team members and our patients to minimize exposure to each other, to be able to provide evening hours for those patients who need them, and to offer a more robust schedule to accommodate those patients who missed their appointments during the past six weeks.

Safety Protocols

COVID 19 Safety Protocols

While safety has always been a top priority for the entire team, in light of the COVID 19 pandemic, we have implemented new and additional protocols and personal protective equipment to elevate our safety standards to the next level. We are utilizing a thermal scanner that will be used to register the body temperate of all patients and team members. If anyone has a temperate above 99.5 degrees, he/she will be not invited inside the office and asked to come back once he/she has been deemed healthy.

Additionally, all patients will be asked COVID 19-related questions, including if he/she has traveled outside of the country, been in contact with someone who has tested positive for the virus, and more. We will screen all patients on the phone when the appointment is made, again when the appointment is confirmed, and also once he/she arrives for his/her appointment.

LEED Gold Certified Facility

Reopening After COVID 19

Not only does our Gold LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Facility have 66% more fresh air than the code requires, but 88% of our building is lit by sunlight. Research, including the most recent research surrounding COVID 19, shows that daylight is germicidal and bactericidal, meaning that our facility is incredibly safe due to our floor-to-ceiling windows and Solatubes.

As an added safety precaution, we’ve installed UVC air filtration systems, so that means that all the air that circulates is exposed to UVC light, which actually kills any germs or bacteria that can cause us to get sick.

We’ll also be performing nightly disinfecting protocols with the use of high-grade cleaning products and a fogger. This machine fogs the entire office with a food-grade material that has been proven by the CDC to kill the COVID 19 virus.

These are just some of the steps and measures we’ve taken in response to the COVID 19 pandemic to ensure that we follow a very cautious reopening route with a goal to open sustainably, safely, and for the long term. In fact, the safety measures we’ve put in place are above and beyond the recommended CDC and dental board guidelines, so we are confident we are doing all that we can to ensure the safety of our patients, team and community.

As always, our main priority is the health and safety of our patients and our team members, and we are doing everything we can to help stop the spread of the coronavirus (COVID 19) while remaining dedicated to our patients’ dental health. With these safety efforts in place, we are confident we can maintain our elevated standard of care and take the very best care of all of our patients.
