The newest addition in our “go green” initiative has been the installation of a state-of-the-art, advanced digital scanning system. While we have been employing digital X-Ray technology for the past few years, this new system takes the diagnostic efficacy of dental imaging to a whole new level of safety, precision, and comfort.

Like digital X-Rays, our new system eliminates the use of toxic developing chemicals while delivering an even smaller fraction of the radiation of traditional X-Rays. And because it provides a clear image of the entire mouth, surrounding bone, sinus cavity, and even the carotid artery, the scope of our diagnostic abilities has been dramatically increased. What’s more, it is decidedly faster and more comfortable. No more gagging or irritation from biting down on imaging plates. Our new scanner is entirely non-invasive and can scan the entire mouth in as little as 11 seconds! It’s good for you and good for the environment.

Digital charting, or EMR (electronic medical records), is not only good for the environment, but it will soon be the law. Soon the Federal Government will be requiring that all medical professionals maintain digital records. To avoid penalties, compliance will be mandatory by 2014. EMRs are simply more portable and secure (not to mention environmentally friendly). Today, though, it’s estimated that only about 20% of American medical offices employ fully integrated digital systems. At the Spodak Dental Group, we pride ourselves on being ahead of the curve: We went completely digital in 2007! Our patients appreciate our efforts to reduce paper waste AND protect their medical and dental history (for your security we employ both on-site and off-site back-up redundancy).
