How Does Invisalign Work?

The beauty of Invisalign clear braces is that you will know exactly what to expect while you achieve your new smile. A virtual simulation will even show you your “after” smile before you even begin!

You will visit our office for a consultation with the Invisalign dentist, where he/she will examine your teeth and show you what the Invisalign treatment can do for you. He/she will then create a personalized treatment plan for you, and use digital technology to take a scan of your mouth – no more gooey impressions!

Once you receive your custom-made aligners, you’ll learn about how to care for your smile and the aligners.

For best results, you are asked to wear the aligners for 22 hours per day, and only take them out to eat. Other than that, you are able to enjoy your favorite foods and activities. The aligners are clear so most people might not even notice you’re wearing anything! At the end of your treatment, which lasts for a short 10 months at our office, you’ll wear retainers only at night. It’s as easy as that!

Most everyone! Anyone who has crowded teeth, overbite, crossbite, underbite, gap teeth or open bite, or anyone who wants generally straighter teeth!

“How long does Invisalign take to work?”

This depends on the person and the intended results. But, at our office, we achieve great results for most patients in only 10 months.

“Will insurance cover invisible braces?”

The great news is that many insurances offer orthodontic coverage. This could be either a percentage of the treatment cost, or a certain dollar amount. Our treatment coordinators will review your dental insurance benefits to see what allowance you have for invisible braces, and will take that into account when they create your personal treatment plan.

“How do I care for my teeth while wearing Invisalign?”

The same way you’re doing now! For best results, you need to wear your aligners for 22 hours per day, or pretty much any time you’re not eating. Before you put the aligners back in, it’s important to brush your teeth, or at least to rinse out your mouth with water.
